With more than 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector and 15 years as philanthropic counsel, Laura brings to her consulting practice a wealth of writing and fundraising skills, and experience in corporate sponsorship, corporate/foundation strategy for annual programs and capital campaigns, and in special events.  

Professional experience includes positions as Director of Institutional Giving at the San Francisco Botanical Gardens, Associate Director of Cultural Initiatives Silicon Valley, Senior Development Officer at the California Academy of Sciences, Grants Officer at the San Jose Museum of Art, and Executive Director of the Bay Area Writers Workshop.

Laura’s volunteer work in the community currently includes service on the Board of Directors of Montalvo Arts Center, the San Mateo County Parks Foundation, the Advisory Board of Action for Nature and Committee of 100 for Tibet, and as a Subject Matter Expert for CFRE International. Her past volunteer experiences include serving on the Board of Directors of the Association of Fundraising Professionals – Golden Gate Chapter, the co-founding of the National Association of Writers’ Conferences and Retreats, Board Member for Poetry Flash, Co-chair of the Artist Residency Program Committee for Montalvo Arts Center, grant reviewer for California Cultural and Historical Endowment, the City of San Jose, and Juror for the Commonwealth Club’s California Book Awards.
